The Doctors

We are currently identifying agents in our two target countries to help us in the selection of doctors for participation in our program. Our agents will include former and current health ministers, retired physicians, and individuals working for NGOs, among others.

The doctors in our program will be selected based on several criteria including education, demonstration of competence, references, patient treatment record, and willingness to remain in the country for a specified period.

Paul T. Whesseh, MD - Liberia
Born in 1965, on August 14, unto the union of Mr. and Mrs. Gardea Whesseh in Lower Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, Liberia. I began my kindergarten in Monrovia after adoption by my aunt, Salomoh Davis in 1965, and completed elementary school at the Elementary Demonstration School, Buchanan in 1978. I graduated from the James Johnson & Ramey Haider Academy, where I earned my High School Diploma.

Isyu Mwakasungula, MD - Malawi
Born in 1955 in Malawi. Primary and secondary education in Malawi. Received MD degree from Friendship University in Moscow. From 1995, employed by the Ministry of Health of Malawi. Was a District Health Officer for 8 years. Registrar in Surgery at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH), Lilongwe, Malawi, since 2006. Married with 3 children.

William Kalua, MD - Malawi
Born in 1967 in Malawi. Primary and secondary education in Malawi. Received a Diploma in Clinical Medicine from Malawi College of Health Sciences in Lilongwe. Employed by the Ministry of Health of Malawi since 2000. Registrar in Surgery at KCH. Instructor in International Trauma Life Support. Married with 3 children.

Simeon Lijenje, MD - Malawi
Born 1973 in Malawi. Primary and secondary education in Malawi. Received a Diploma in Clinical Medicine from Malawi College of Health Sciences in Lilongwe. Received BCS in Health Sciences from Mzuzu University in Malawi. Employed by the Ministry of Health of Malawi since 1997. Registrar in Surgery at KCH. Married with 1 child.

Law Mkandawire, MD - Malawi
Born 1979 in Malawi. Primary and secondary education in Malawi. Received a Diploma in Clinical Medicine from Malawi College of Health Sciences in Lilongwe. Employed by the Ministry of Health in Malawi since 2004. Registrar in Surgery at KCH. Single.

Charles Phiri, MD - Malawi
Born in Malawi in 1970. Primary and secondary education in Zambia. Received a Diploma in Clinical Medicine from Malawi College of Health Sciences in Lilongwe.Employed by the Ministry of Heath of Malawi since 2000. Registrar in Surgery at KCH. Married with 3 children.

Christopher Mkwezalamba, MD - Malawi
Born in Malawi 1962. Primary and secondary education in Malawi. Received a Diploma in Clinical Medicine from Malawi College of Health Sciences in Lilongwe.Received a Diploma in Clinical Anesthesia from Malawi school of Anesthesia, College of Medicine, Blantyre, Malawi. BSC in Health Sciences from Mzuzu University in Malawi. Employed by the Ministry of Health of Malawi since 1996. Registrar in Surgery at KCH. Married with 2 children.
